Let Go, Trust & Surrender

“Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature… Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.” -Helen Keller

As we covered, we are energy beings, where every cell in our body is constantly alive and transforming, and where every moment we experience is an evolution. This contradicts a human desire to cling to what is comfortable and seemingly safe, but unfortunately this concept goes against biology.

We eternally crave what we experience during the first nine months of our existence, where we grow, mostly undisturbed, as a seed in a protected, dark, warm and quiet space. Then one day we outgrow our environment and are pushed out into a world that has all sorts of unfamiliar sounds, vibrations, shapes and movements. As our eyes peer open for the first time, there is an enormous amount of energy, reactions and feelings to process. It is no wonder why we cry at birth, going from a state of plush comfort to “what the f*ck just happened?!” The moment we take our first breath outside the womb is the end of the most peaceful security our beings will ever know. Perhaps this is why we spend so much of our lives sticking to what is familiar, safe and comfortable. While routines may feel comfortable and can help with discipline issues, they can also enable weeks, months or years to go by without question or innovation.

“No amount of security is worth the suffering of a mediocre life changed to a routine that has killed your dreams.” -Maya Mendoza

Why is so difficult for us to embrace changes in our lives? One of our biggest internal battles is our desire for comfort and “security” versus surrendering to the unknown. We are hardwired to desire baseline securities such as food, shelter, and community or companionship, which has influenced modern society and our perspective on jobs, money and relationships. However, much like everything else, the security we think we need from external sources can only truly be achieved from the inside. Feeling secure within ourselves is #1, which can be fulfilled in deepening your understanding and faith in life energies, and in gaining confidence being the orchestra conductor of your own life.

Often, the more resistant we are to change, and the more we clamp down and try to control the micros of our lives and others, the more out of control or lost we actually end up feeling. When we feel the need to micromanage or control occurrences and people, we create a grip or a cage around them that doesn’t allow the situation to flow expansively. When things go “wrong” or situations feel beyond our comfort, we tend to try to desperately cling to the roots and vines of the shoreline, instead of letting the river of life carry us towards adventures that are ours to be had. This “letting go” perspective is the beginning of trust in life.

“I no longer force things. What flows flows. What crashes, crashes. I only have space and energy for things that are meant for me.” -Unknown

Sometimes our idea of trust gets violated from painful events, or by those who are confused or struggling on their own path. Uncomfortable situations occur to nudge us towards better situations that we need to progress towards, or to show us patterns that need to be healed within us that may be attracting deception. When you increase your self-esteem, go through your healing journey, strengthen your intuition, and connect greater with your truth, you may notice less betrayal coming up in your life. Always be sure you are speaking the truth. As you work through this course, you can grow from being a victim of lies to having compassion for the people or situations that mislead you, and the strength to keep your distance.

The truth and trust you are going for here are greater than what is reflected in others. Pure, undeniable trust is really just about maintaining a fully embodied, deep knowing that you are always being guided towards the best, most life-ward path. You have full trust in that whatever comes up along the way carries some sort of guidance or lesson. Life is intelligent; it wants you to survive and thrive. You need to bolster that the life-force energy of the universe always has your best interest at play. When you can sustain this level of trust, nothing or nobody can disrupt you. You simply see everything for what it is to its core while maintaining healthy distances or boundaries.

You can work with trust in life by knowing, in general, what you want, the feelings you want to feel, and the outcome you desire, then you release the how, when and what of getting there. You know, you trust, that if it is meant for your best interest it is on its way to you. Trust is seeing the signs or guidance, and being ready to take inspired action when it appears.
